In the silence of the calming meadow lay the large beastess. Dial rest on the emerald strands beneath her, the fog condensating upon her gleaming scales. Restless body shifted, rolling over on one side then the other. She got up, lay back down, the got up and lay back down. An endless dance as the pain of labor struck through her.
Her dial lean back, as if she would see the babe laying behind her. A small moan of discomfort reak havoc in the meadow. Orbs fluttered shut, concentrating on breathing. And like instinct, she pushed. Heaving, and pushing hard. With a last push, the large body slide out, laying motionless upon the earth. Her dial lean back, seeing the limp carcass. She turned to him, nudging his chest, trying to resesitate the babe.
Like majic, he sprung to life. His orbs shot open, lungs opened, then collapsed. His fangs beared at her smile. Limbs caught the moist earth, pulling him upwards, settling him onto his feet. Small wings spread out, each were double the size of him, something that he would soon grow into. Though they seemed big enough for him when he became an adult, they would never cease growing, for Asha still was becoming larger with age.
The wings spread, flapping slowly, as if he was testing them out. His long nape curled, tail struck out erect as he stretched. Jaws went open, revealing the whitest teeth, sharper than daggars, a blue forked tongue. Orbs caught sight of Asha looking him over, a pleased expression on her face. He looked back at her, taking in her magnificent body.
Croal..
She whispered. He smiled.
Mother...
He whispered back. He was almost half the size of her, and it made him a bit intimidated, but he enjoyed her presance, for she was his life giver. She was his overlord, his protector. And though he had just been born, he knew that. He respected that. And never, he vowed, would he cross the line. Never would he not respect her. He stepped over to her, wobbly at first, then strong, certain strides. He lay next to her large body, matching his breaths with her's. The even heart beat and the warm breath lulling him into a sleep.
She wrapped her tail around him, watching him sleep, she, too, rested. Her first born...
